If your skin appears dull and you have lost that youthful glow, a series of Microdermabrasion treatments may be just for you. Medical-level microdermabrasion provides outstanding results for minimizing fine lines and providing facial exfoliation, leaving the treated area with smoother skin. Using a variable-level vacuum system, the Microdermabrasion wand gently lifts the skin to remove the topmost layer of skin. Each treatment is followed by a Gentlewaves LED Light treatment to further stimulate collagen production, improve the skin texture, and reduce pore size. Excellent for both active acne and acne scarring, this treatment can also minimize sun damage and decrease hyperpigmentation and discoloration.
Level I microdermabrasion-
A noticeable difference is achieved after just one of these thorough, yet comfortable treatments, which begins with a cleansing massage and progresses with gentle exfoliation and surface renewal.
Level II microdermabrasion-
After one or more level 1 treatments, depending on skin type, we add either a multi-hydroxy acid peel or an enzyme peel. This advanced procedure is ideal for serious skin issues and for the individual who desires maximum results without downtime.

The BioMedic MicroPeel is a safe and effective procedure. It is a complete treatment platform with pre-treatment at home, in office treatment, and a post-procedure program for maintenance. The three-step in office process removes a micro-thin top layer of skin. This layer consists of clogged pores that obstruct the development of healthy beautiful skin. Skin is left smooth and hydrated.
For sensitive skin, an acid-free or 2% lactic acid BioMedic MicroPeel is recommended. For a more rapid exfoliation, the BioMedic MicroPeel can be performed with glycolic acia at concentrations of either 20% or 30%.
Lactic and glycolic acids are naturally occurring alpha hydroxyl acids(AHA) found in fruits and other foods. AHAs are used in formulations to exfoliate or shed the surface skin. The extent of exfoliation depends on the type and concentration of the AHA. At high concentrations, AHAs function as peeling agents, which act more rapidly, and at a deeper level.
What happens during the BioMedic Micropeel?
First, dead cellular layers are removed by dermaplanning, a technique popularized by BioMedic since 1991, or BioMedic Pure Enzyme, a unique papaya-based mask. Dermaplaning removes dead skin and fine vellus hair, breaks up discoloration, softens surface irregularities and tightens pores, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
A change in skin texture can be felt right away.
Next, an alpha hydroxyl acid solution is applied to the skin. A slight stinging sensation may occur but it is only momentary. After the desired level of exfoliation is reached, the solution is neutralized. This option step of the MicroPeel helps free pores of impacted debris.
The third and final step of the MicroPeel is a skin freezing process called Cryogenic Therapy. Carbon dioxide is applied to the face in light, circular motions. The frosty mist released by the carbon dioxide immediately relieves inflammation and cools the skin.
There is usually no downtime associated with the BioMedic MicroPeel. You can apply makeup immediately following the procedure. However, depending on the customization of the MicroPeel, you may experience minor peeling the days following the procedure. This is a result of the renewing process.

How many treatments are required to show an improved look?

Will results be long lasting?
Like everything else in life, human skin needs maintenance. The Vi Peel's wonderful results will last as long as skin care is maintained, sun exposure is moderate and preventive aging with the Vi Peel is performed three or four times per year and, in between, skin care is optimized with the use of prescription grade skin care.
What types of skin respond well to the Vi Peel?
The many innovations that created the Vi Peel combine to enable the entire continuum of skin types to enjoy the benefits of the peel. For the first time, Afro-American and darker skin types such as some Asian and Latin skins can experience anti-ageing and restorative skin care previously unavailable.
Does it burn?
Not really. Patients will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds which subsides completely almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.
What will the patient look like right after the Vi Peel and during the next few days?
The skin will look slightly tan to red immediately after the peel. On days one and two the skin will feel slightly tighter with no visible signs of having a peel except for looking slightly tan, as if the patient just returned from a relaxing weekend at a resort. Any pigmented areas might appear slightly darker, which is a good sign. On about day three, the patient begins to peel. The first signs of peeling usually begin around the mouth area, continuing for a day or two. With the use of the Vi Derm™ moisturizer, patients go about their usual daily routine. By day six or day seven the patient is done peeling and the results are dramatic!
How many peels are needed?
The peel may be repeated as often as every two weeks, if necessary, for damaged skin. Our recommendation for average skin would be once every three months to prevent damage and the underlying ageing of the skin. The physician will evaluate the patientÃs damage, goals and expectations and make an appropriate recommendation for ongoing skin care. We preach the ìdentilizationî of skin care for optimum results.
What kind of final results will the patient see after a single Vi Peel?
It takes about four days after the patient finishes peeling for the skin to return to its normal PH and to see the final effects. The skin will look luminous and glowing. The patient will feel refreshed with slightly tighter skin. Hyper-pigmentation will be improved or gone, depending on the amount of damage. Texture will be improved with an overall more youthful appearance. You will be a very happy patient.
